Sure.. I'll give up my guns. I'll start with the bullets first.. they can have the cases when I'm done collecting the brass.

So, the way around the seriel print on ammo is simple.. reload your own.

In the September 2008 issue of “1st Freedom” the NRA magazine the following article was published.

Barack Obama’s Ten Point Plan:

1) Ban use of firearms for home self-defense.
2) Pass Federal laws eliminating your Right-to-Carry.
3) Ban the manufacture, sale and possession of handguns.
4) Close down 90% of the gun shops in America.
5) Ban rifle ammunition commonly used for hunting and sport shooting.
6) Increase federal taxes on guns and ammunition by 500 percent.
7) Restore voting rights for five million criminals including those who have been convicted of using a gun to commit a violent crime. (In the state of Maryland this has already happened. Thanks to a very liberal legislature and Governor.)
8 ) Expand the Clinton semi-auto ban to include millions more firearms.
9) Mandate a government-issued license to purchase a firearm.
10) Appoint judges to the U.S. Supreme Court and Federal judiciary who share his views on the Second Amendment.

Maybe there is hope!!!

Sen. John McCain has selected Sarah Palin, the Alaskan Governor, as his vice-presidential running mate.

Both are supporters of the 2nd Amendment. Gov. Palin is a life long member of the NRA, a hunter, and fisherwoman. She comes from the middle class, is a strong conservative, and supporter of the US Troops. Her son is in the Army and will be deployed to Iraq on September 11th. Her views on government sure do show what a lot of us believe.

Hopefully they will make it.

We now need to concentrate on local, state, Senate and Congressional elections. They can only do so much without the support of our elected representatives.

It was only a matter of time. A Bill has been introduced in the House of Representatives that would make Federal Licensing of Firearms ownership mandatory. The proposed Bill would effectively override all State or Local Gun Laws, requiring additional Federal Licensing Requirements and severe restrictions that would be dictated by the Federal Government. (I often wonder if Mr. Johnstone had a crystal ball). Of course, it was introduced by a Congressman from Chicago. (is there a connection?).

Also a number of states have begun to reintroduce state legislation that would require serial numbers to be printed on every box of ammunition as well as a matching number on each round of ammunition in that box. This will be adding to the cost and restrictions on purchase by legal gun owners. You may want to check to see what is happening in your state.

Regardless of what the decision of the Supreme Court made regarding gun ownership, they will still try to find other ways around the decision to force their will on the people.

Go to Thomas.loc.gov no www needed and find the bill, and be sure to let your congressman know how you feel. As always be courteous but firm in your communications.

The Bill is:

Blair Holt's Firearm Licensing and Record of Sale Act of 2009 (Introduced in House)[H.R.45.IH]

HR 45 is still alive and well in the House of Representatives. Now we have someone who has been appointed to the Supreme Court (and will be confirmed) who has made anti-gun ownership decisions in her previous rulings. His chief of staff has made more then one anti-gun owner statement. One only needs to look at the statements and record of our current Attorney General for the same leanings.

Take a look at House Resolution 45 and you will see how restrictive and invasive of personal information it is.

Maryland is looking to put more on legal firearms owners (not only hand guns, but rifles and shotguns too). They are taking the back door to firearms control.

This e-mail was sent by the ASSOCIATED GUN CLUBS OF BALTIMORE, INC.

If Brian Frosh and Samuel Rosenberg have their way, Maryland's gun owners will be singled out for "Special Treatment" and branded as "gun owners" on their driver's license.

The rumors were true and we are now facing the 2 most onerous and dangerous bills ever filed in the Maryland General Assembly. They are SB 645 & HB 820 "Firearm Safety Act of 2010." These bills are cross filed (identical) bills in the House and the Senate. Despite the politically correct bill titles, they are not about safety. They are about gun owner control.

The sole purpose of these bills is to discourage the ownership of handguns by increasing the cost, establishing a series of hurdles that citizens must negotiate, providing the Maryland State Police (MSP) with more ways to deny an handgun purchase, and enabling the MSP to build a database of rifle and shotgun owners via dealer's records.

Highlights of the Licensing Scheme are:

Handgun purchase permit just to qualify to apply to purchase a handgun (the 7 day wait and background check will still be required)
Non-refundable fee to cover the cost of applying for a purchase permit
Training course approved by the Maryland State Police (existing training course may or may not be acceptable and course requirements will be determined by the MSP)
Applicant must apply to the Criminal Justice Information System (CJIS) for a national and state criminal records check - this will include fingerprints which now must be scanned at a cost up to $60 which must be paid by the applicant

Applicant must provide any other identifying information or documentation required by the Maryland State Police
30 Day wait for the purchase permit (add 7 days for the normal background check)
Handgun purchase permit is only valid for 5 years
New application, fingerprints and application fee are required to renew a purchase permit
MSP may revoke a purchase permit
Greatly increased penalties for a violation - some with mandatory minimum prison sentence provisions
MSP will have ready access to all dealer's records (a great resource for building a database of gun owners who own rifles and shotguns)

For the purpose of obtaining a license to purchase a handgun, persons with 2 DUI convictions, 1 of which occurred within the past 5 years, will be prohibited from obtaining a license
It is uncertain whether or not a "gun owner" designation on a driver's license will constitute "probable cause" to search a vehicle during a routine traffic stop.

How are we doing so far?

Since the last AGC Legislative E-mail on these bills was sent, 627 readers have opened the AGC e-mail and 258 clicked on the links. Only 149 used the Civic Action E-mail System. If the 149 readers who used the E-mail system sent e-mails to all of the legislators, they sent a total of 27,863 e-mails to the Maryland General Assembly. If all 627 readers who opened the AGC email had used the Civic Action E-mail System, the total would have been a very impressive 117,249!!

Most of us will be snowed in today, which means we have more than enough time to send e-mails, write letters to legislators and the media opposing SB 645 & HB 820.

We have done everything we can think of to make it easy for you to defend your rights. The rest is up to you!

Make your voice heard, tell the Maryland General Assembly that requiring a license to exerscise your Constitional rights is wrong!

Check the web site for details on these bills:

John H. Josselyn
AGC Legislative Vice President

If you live in Maryland send your e-mails and make your phone calls TODAY!!! Protect your rights.

Has anyone challenged the Constitutionality of this bill yet?

Head it off before it becomes and issue, which it is rushing forward to be. Since this is at the state level and affects the constituents of all areas, you should not have an issue filing a law suit to examine the bill before it even gathers traction.

Now, that is something that I am not 100% about, but I am sure that there are concerned parties who can file the suit, you will just need to get them involved.

On the other hand, Arizona is trying to pass more lenient gun laws. There is a bill in AZ Congress, that will take away the need to obtain a Concealed Carry Permit. The way AZ is right now it may pass. Will update when more news is available.
