maybe i missed something, but,im wondering why ben raines with command of some fairly large planes and the need to destroy large cities to eliminate the night people,he hasnt used any type of bombing raids to accomplish this? im currently reading book number 11 and dont recall anything on that outside of his use of the puff airstrikes. anybody know?

I too wondered this, for some reason he doesn't seem to have/ use anything more that prop planes. The only logical reason that i can come up with for this is that the heavy bomber bases took hits, and/ or no one can fly jet planes.

Remember also, the Creepies are crazed, not backwards.. they are armed to the teeth with all sorts of weapons. That could include anti-aircraft... arty is much simpler when it comes to leveling a city... you fire a zone pattern and eliminate whatever is in the area.. also, logisically speaking, you don't waste fuel, which isn't easy to come by at that time, for aircraft and you don't put pilots who could shuttle people and supplies in and out into harm's way unnecessarily.
All that and its just damned fun to watch arty explode...
"you this is me over." "me this is you, go ahead." "you this is me, fire-mission, over" "me this you, copy, fire-mission, out" "you this is me, grid 12345678-12345678" "me this is you, copy, grid 12345678, 12345678" "You this is me, creepies in the open. one round H.E. in ajdust, expend all rounds H.E. in fire for effect" "Me this is you, copy one round H.E. in ajdust, all rounds in FFE." "Me, this is you, shot over" "You, this is me, shot out" "Me, this is you, splash over" "You this is me, Splash out" "You this is me, Fire for Effect, I say again, Fire for Effect." "Me this is you, Copy, Fire for Effect"

Pretty much the same reason you didn't see F14's or A4's defending (or attacking!) the Tri-States. While the "appropriation" of jet fighters was alluded to, they never made an appearance. Just a WAG, but I'd say they were too maintenance intensive in a post-apocalyptic world, despite the Rebels having taken just about everything that wasn't nailed down! Also, JP4 jet fuel would be scarce, while plain 'ol gasoline was abundant, and therefore the easier-to-maintain prop planes were kings of the air. Not likely to have found many B-27s left around anyway. Besides, why would you want to deny Ben all the fun!?

also it would be a lot harder for the planes to fly low in the citys as and even if they did have high level bombers it would be hard for the bombers to drop without risking hitting the rebbles this was all before pin point bombing like we have now hell it was before the internett came into full swing the bombs went off in 88 so there would have been only the older computers the ones around when guys my age (i'm 21) where in kindergarden

Wow! Look at me. Necroposting. Anyway.....Remember in the first book Ben had the Rebels going from base to base destrying aircraft that could be used against them. I would assume that would be the jet fighters and bombers. None of the aircraft later used were of (then) recent vintage being old WW2 era C-47s and such. If memory serves, he later has the old aircraft pulled out of mothballs from museums and such and reactivated for the use of the Rebel army.

I don't remember the jets. It's been years since I've read the series and I jsut now found myself going back through it buying the books for my Kindle. I have the entire series in paperback, but I've found the Kindle to be much more convenient. Plus the books are getting old and I'm afraid of breaking the spines and spilling pages all over the floor.
