Bill and I have always sent our soldiers abroad books that they have requested. I am continuing this tradition, by sending our soldiers books to read.
If you can donate funds, used or new books, it will be appreciated.
When you send a book, please add a short note on a separate piece of paper and put it inside the book for the soldiers to read.
If you have family, or friends that are serving our country, and would like for us to send books to them, please email me and let me know their specifics.
Thanks!
Jo~

Jo,
Although I have a grandson in the Navy he doesn't like to read. He unlike most of us doesn't picture what he is reading...
As soon as I can get paper to wrap books and get the books boxed that I have more than one of, of the Ashes series I will send them to you so that you can send them to our guys overseas.

Hey... fill us in on how this is gonna be done or if there's a way to just send, directly from home. Not sure if I can afford to do much right now, seeing as I'm kinda retired due to health and waiting to be denied my SSDI, cuz I'm not an illegal alien.
Unfortunately, I, like many other soldiers when I was over in 'Nam, we spent most of our off hours drinking and de-stressing. Now, they aren't allowed alcohol on base, from what I understand, so reading may be an option for quite a few. I certainly hope so. I wish I would have had an interest in reading back then... but of course... I wish I'd done a lot of things back then, that I didn't do. Sigh...but I digress......
Let us know more on how ya go about it and mayhaps I can figure out a way to send a few books too.

Right now, the biggest request from Soldiers are for the Ashes series. Hmm.. figure that one out.
I just sent one of the last complete set of Ashes that I had collected.
To complete another set I need:
Out of the Ashes
Crisis in the Ashes
Tyranny in the Ashes
Destiny in the Ashes
Warriors from the Ashes
If you could send them to me (media mail) to
PO Box 331119
Murfreesboro, TN 37133
I will make sure they get to the soldiers.
P.S. The other books frequently asked for are:
The Last Gunfighter series
All Horror
Eagle Down
Black OPs series

Since this post is over a year old, is there an update of the books needed?
If I don't send any books, where can I donate some money?

Here is a copy of the latest request: You can send books to him directly if you would like.
We are going to Iraq soon, we are 10th mountain 3rd division 4th brigade 4-25 Field Artillery Alpha Battery. I was thinking it would be cool if you could send something to show support for us as we are leaving. Thank you...
PFC King Reginald E 4/25 Field Artillery 10640 S Riva Ridge Loop Fort Drum NY 13602
I will start updating the list more frequently.. seems like a waste of postage for everyone to send them to me and then me to send them on..
Thanks for your support!
Jo~

Did anyone send PFC King books?
Are there any other requests? I know we have quite a few soldiers on the forum. Sure would like to hear from them.

Jo~ Jo, recently picked up "Death in the Ashes (1990)" in Original cover w/ Ben Raines on cover holding M-16, Shirtless, with Eagle in Background. I got it for free from a used bookstore. Am willing to part with it for no charge, just need to know where to send it for the troops. Combat Doc2002
