Greets, Don! I don't know if you can do this or not, so don't quote me, but in Colorado: You have to have a permit to carry a concealed weapon (pistol or revolver). However, you are allowed to carry a firearm (rifle, pistol or revolver) as long as it is in plain sight, both on your person and in your vehicle (and if nothing else, you can just be transporting the weapon lol. That's one reason I like knives so much! Get a batch of throwaways and nobody's the wiser. They have credit card knives, hunting knives, cutlery, neck knives, boot knives, shirt collar knives. The list goes on and on! It's amazing what happens when a punk stops you; you grab him by the collar, stick a knife under his privates and ask him if he likes his cojones (cohones, pronunciation). They back down quick!!! Course, I wouldn't know anything like that. lol picdaddy58

Wisconsin, in most places, open carry will get you a ticket for disorderly conduct. Uncased, loaded carry in a vehicle will get the DNR(damn near right, damn near Russia, and many other affectionate terms) on you. Unfortunantly most knives that would do you much good will get you charged with carrying a concealed weapon. Our governer seems to think we can't be trusted the the RIGHT to protect ourselves. But the SB's can and do carry guns and knives. Take our lives and freedoms and then aren't held personally responsible for thier actions.
Damn here i go raving again. Funny how the meaning of a word can change with just a generation.

Anyone notice that since this was not a major issue in Texas that the media dropped it pretty quickly? I wonder why.
I think it makes GREAT news when some illegal gets that they didnt bargain for when squaring off with a Texan exercising his rights to defend himself and property with appropriate force according to the law.
(edited for spelling..somewhere along the line I realized I looked like a hillbilly trying to type.)

It all depends on the area your in and how the the press thinks of it. Conservative area: The LAWFUL use of a firearm to protect yourself or others makes the press for a few days and usually supports the good citizen Liberal area: Decries the use of a firearm on the "poor misguided person" Calls for more gun control and the law abiding citizen's right to KEEP AND BEAR a firearm for self defense. If it was a bad guy shooting a good citizen then it gets a minor mention in the paper and goes away but... the other way around and its an anti gun poster incident. (how wrong is this ) Ohhh well this is the press we have generated and I guess we have to live with it May the Supreme Court make the proper ruling on the RIGHTS of our citizens to KEEP AND BEAR arms. An armed man is a citizen. An unarmed man is a subject. Through the Second Amendment all the others are guaranteed.

I'm surprised it went down the way it did. I've read that usually if one uses a gun in defense no shots have to even be fired. the bad guy usually realizes what's good for him and flees.

I live in Reno, Nv. Here you can definitely defend what's yours. I talked to a Sparks police officer and he told me one day Some big six foot five inch guy went over and tried to bully and harass his neighbor in front of his own front door because all he did was ask him to turn the music down. The neighbor he was harassing was a much smaller guy but could handle himself. He laid the big guy out. The big guy called the cops but the cop didn't even take the report. he pretty much told the guy if he's to mess with another then he should be prepared to get his butt kicked.
Supposedly some punk was going around with a huge rock breaking into peoples cars. One day an armed homeowner confronted the guy and told him to get lost. The punk with the rock tried to chuck the rock at the armed homeowner. The homeowner opened fire shooting the criminal. The DA, Dick Gammick, did not prosecute.
That's also pretty much how it was when Mills Lane was the DA.
Here in Reno, it's very easy to get a CCW. Here in the State of Nevada there is no waiting period nor registration recquired for handguns.
